About us

The Tasmanian Business Advice Service connects small businesses with experienced advisors who provide free, independent advice. Funded by the Tasmanian Government, we provide free, practical advice to help you start, run and grow your business with confidence.

For nearly 30 years, the Tasmanian Government has supported small businesses with accessible, independent advice. Today, that support continues through two services that provide practical guidance at different stages of the business journey.

The Tasmanian Business Advice Service supports established small businesses that have held an ABN for 12 months or more. Eligible businesses can access up to five hours of free advice each financial year to help them strengthen and grow their business.

The New Business Support Service helps people who are thinking about starting a business, or who have held an ABN for less than 12 months. This service provides up to two hours of free advice to help assess business ideas, understand the steps involved and build a strong foundation.

Practical, independent advice

Our advisors are experienced business professionals with strong knowledge of Tasmania’s small business landscape.

They provide practical, confidential advice tailored to your goals and challenges. This may include guidance on planning, marketing, cashflow, business viability, growth opportunities or preparing for change.

Advice can be delivered in person, online or by phone, depending on what works best for you.

Business Tasmania support

Both services are supported by a wide range of tools, templates and resources available through Business Tasmania, making it easier to find the right information at the right time.
